Dairy Live

Tuesday December 1; we’re at Flemington Racecourse for a Dairy Australia event that saw us hook up, via video-conferencing technology, Bunbury, Mount Gambier and Launceston for a discussion on optimising feed conversion efficiency in dairy herds. Now, if you are a diary farmer – or involved in any aspect of animal husbandry – this was an important event.

We were also joined by acknowledged experts Dr. Fernando Bargo from Argentina and Professor David Beever from the UK in a 90-minute discussion which also involved the 60-strong audience in Flemington.

Esther Price, who is one of the most organised people in the events industry, put the show together for Dairy Australia and the technical aspects were handled by Dean Lomax of Lomax Media.

We followed that up with a webinar on the following Tuesday. Several hundred dairy farmers from all over Australia joined us on the web. Experts Dr. Steve Little and Dr. Bill Wales joined Professor David Beever in answering questions phoned in and sent via the web.

I really enjoyed working both these events as they not only taught me a lot about the dairy industry, but the technology we used was cutting edge for this kind of presentation. The webinar and segments of the Dec 1 event are still available on the link above.
